The Hiking data field 4 (Version 1), running on all Connect IQ™ compatible Garmin devices with CIQ 2 or higher, is designed as data field focusing on improving your walking or hiking performance. It can be added to the different native Garmin applications. The data field shows the current heart rate as colored value and gauge as well as 3 freely configurable additional metrics of your activity. As special feature it supports the ANT+ TEMPE sensor. Compared to our HikingDF7 data fields 1 and 2, this data field is optimized for best possible readability.

The main idea behind data fields is to use the native Garmin apps which offer features which cannot be accessed through the Garmin API in 3rd-party apps (e.g. map support, workout support, etc.) and extend its functionality with new features.
